Study Abroad in Costa Rica: A Complete Immersion Experience for High School Students
YES Costa Rica offers a unique high school experience for students aged 13-17, combining language immersion, cultural experiences, and academic growth. Live with a Costa Rican host family, attend public or private schools, and participate in exciting excursions and activities. Introductory course
Right after your arrival in Costa Rica you will receive two-day introductory course so that you find your way around. On top of that, you will receive a folder with tips and recommendations which is a very important guide to ensure the success of your program.
Accommodation
You will be a family member of a Costa Rican family. Living within a host family makes your stay in Costa Rica an intensive immersion experience. You will be immersed into the culture of the Costa Rican people (“Ticos”) and gather many interesting experiences of their everyday life and traditions, while you are learning Spanish.
This will also help you to know how to use the correct expression at the right moment. In short, life in a host family is probably the best opportunity to obtain insights about the Costa Rican culture and the fastest way to integrate into a new surrounding and learn the language efficiently.
Supervision
Besides all the advantages of a program in COSTA RICA, a host family will also provide you a safe environment. YES COSTA RICA is in contact with the host families who constantly inform and provide us feedback about your well being. We are with you during the different phases you will live in the program.
Schools
You can choose between a public or a private school, according with the quality of the education you want to receive. Length of stay three, to ten months.
Organization of private activities
Language, sports, tourist or cultural activities can be organized price is not included in the program. (for example, yoga, music, salsa dancing, cooking, etc.).
Excursions
Our program offers many different excursions, that allow you to know best this beautiful country.
Conditions
Minimum age: 13 years.
Maximal age: 17 years.
Spanish knowledge is not required.
YES COSTA RICA include an introductory Spanish Course but during the time you are in Costa Rica, we can offer you private Spanish classes one to one, 20 Lessons, 45 minutes each in order to improve speech, composition, listening and reading skills. Ask for this option.
Internships or volunteer work
If you wish to further your experience, AVE can organize that you work as a volunteer or intern during your school holidays (July or December through February).
